Ice & Fire Butterfly

Made in ATI for an Unreal Engine exercice. Subject was "Imaginary Creature". As a FX Artist, I wanted to work on a Fire & Ice shader to discover the best way to work with it in Real Time Rendering.

I painted a mask to be able to apply 2 kinds of fire & ice.

My Fire Shader.  There is a lot of stuff due to the 2 kinds of Fire used for the wing. You have the "lava" and the "fire".  I made it very configurable, so in my Material Instance I can change it whatever I want.

This is the fire settings. To get the movement I want, I created a Flow Map on Houdini.

My Ice Shader. Here too, there is 2 kinds of ice, but less complicated, one is darker than the other (basically).

To finish, you can see a cold smoke above the Ice Wing. I created this loop sprite on Houdini to get this.
